9 Things that Make Fountain Maintenance and Care Easier

Fountain maintenance and care does not have to be a huge ordeal. However, it can be a bit of a chore, if you have a very large water feature, or if you don't have the right essentials to use. This list of things will make caring for your fountain significantly easier.
There are easy to use water treatment products that work with your regular tap water to help fight hard water stains. You will find these treatments to be very helpful. Alternately, you can use distilled water.
White Distilled Vinegar
A solution of distilled white vinegar and water can vey very helpful in cleaning the fountain surface.
If you have a tough spot of scale that doesn't want to budge, make a paste of baking soda and water and let it sit in there a bit.
Okay, so you forgot to use your water treatment product and you missed your cleaning day by a month because your schedule was busy. Now what? Don't panic! Calcium lime remover will get your fountain looking new again. remember, you never want to use an abrasive sponge or cleaning product on a fountain.
Your life will be so much easier, if you invest in a shop vac. You will be able to suck up all those drops of dirty water and cleaning solution before refilling it.
A hose will be helpful in emptying your fountain. You can use it to create a suction to drain it. If you are having a fountain custom made you may want to consider having a drain pump or internal drain system installed.
Don't throw that old toothbrush away! That will be the perfect tool to use to scrub your pump. It is important to get all the crevices clean.
Auto Fill Float Valve

This mechanical valve will monitor the water level, so if you have a busy schedule or you take a lot of business trips you don't have to worry about the water level getting too low when you are not there to monitor it.
A 5-gallon bucket will be helpful for draining your fountain. Just make sure you don't overfill it. The bucket will be very heavy and hard to carry, if you allow it to get completely full.
